Vegan Warrior Princesses Attack! is a podcast with in-depth, unapologetic discussions of vegan issues by two modern day vegan warrior princesses!
The show is meant to be a source of support and community for people already dedicated to the vegan lifestyle, but we also welcome new vegans and those who are veg-curious to get a peek behind the curtain of vegan life. We’re hoping to cultivate a sense of community so that VWPs with no support can feel like they are connected to their vegan brethren and have a space to vent or feel understood.

Zero Waste and Veganism with the Zero Waste Guy
I am SOOOOO excited to share with you the interview I did on Sunday with Nichole and Callie of the Vegan Warrior Princesses Attack Podcast. But first, I want to put the conversation into perspective. I met Nichole last September at a conference called A Place at the Table which is hosted annually by an awesome San Diego non-profit called the 1to1 Movement. At the time, I had been considering a vegan diet, but was not quite ready to make the commitment.
A brief description

A Place at the Table 2015 is a conference for innovators, changemakers, and leaders. How does it work?

  • Step 1: Assembling the Teams: 1 corporate leader, 1 policy maker, 1 educator, 1 non-profit professional, and 2 students make up a team.
  • Step 2: Taking a Place at the Table: Teams will work collaboratively to develop a tangible and sustainability-oriented solution to a conservation-minded issue of their choosing.
  • Step 3: Developing the Solution: A product, campaign, legislation, event, action…sky’s the limit. Step 4: Inspire, Empower, and Engage.

Keynote speakers will share their inspiration and stories in having made innovative change. Teams will share their solutions with one another. Ideas will be spread, adopted, and shared.

How I met the Vegan Warrior Princesses

Meeting Nichole was pure happenstance. I replied to an offer on the Facebook event page for a ride to the event. I had taken the train from LA’s Union Station to Old Town San Diego and was staying at a friend’s house without a car. A ride to the event sounded way easier than an attempt to navigate an unfamiliar public transit system early on a Saturday morning.
A sweet woman named Erlinde picked me up. We got to talking and it turned out that she was vegan. She told me that we had to pick up one more person before heading to the event. Can you guess who it was? It was Nichole, or course, another vegan.
When we arrived to the event I found myself sitting at a table with Erlinde and Nichole discussing our expectations for the event. We also spent some time discussing veganism. It was mid-September 2015 and I had been thinking about veganism for a long time. Up until that point, I didn’t really know any vegans or understand how to eat like a vegan. In a sense, I didn’t have the tools I needed to make the switch. Fortunately, Erlinde and Nichole helped humanize veganism for me. They made it seem much less overwhelming and much more of an obtainable lifestyle.
Zero Waste & Veganism with the Zero Waste Guy
I met up with Nichole and Callie last Sunday at the Vegan Street Fair. I HATE these types of events because they are so wasteful, but told them I would meet them there to share with them zero waste challenges with these types of events.
Afterwords, we went to my office to record the episode. Their typical episodes are between 60 and 80 minutes long. This one is 120…I guess we had a lot to talk about! When I first met Nichole, I was skeptical. I mean, Vegan Warrior Princesses Attack! sounds intimidating. Maybe even a little aggressive. I can assure though, that they are two of the sweetest people I know. And, honestly, can you think of a better episode to check out than one featuring me!?
